Instructional Media in eLearning: Overcoming the 'Yes, but will it have
video?' Syndrome
Session Description:
Do you or your customers suffer
from the "Yes, but can we have video?" syndrome, otherwise know as the
desire for the gratuitous use of video and graphics in elearning? If you
answered yes, this is the session for you. Learn practical,
evidence-based guidelines for the purposeful use of instructional video,
graphics, and other visuals in elearning.
Presenter: Roberta Everson, Technologies for Learning Group
Roberta
directs Technologies for Learning Groups (TLG) learning development and
is responsible for ensuring instructional integrity in all TLG
paper-based and online learning products. As Director of Learning
Strategies, Roberta has been instrumental in building and implementing
TLG's instructional design and content development process, including a
multimedia decision matrix.
An experienced educator, Roberta has participated in the envisioning and
building of many client-learning systems in industries such as retail,
customer contact, manufacturing and aerospace. During her twelve years
in the education field, she has worked in diverse environments ranging
from workplace-based training programs to secondary schools, in addition
to designing and developing paper based and online training with TLG.
She received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba
and has considerable experience designing offline and online learning
material and delivering classroom based training. Roberta has recently
enrolled in a Master of Science, Instructional Design and Technology at
UND.
