Collaborative Course Development
– the Alberta Experience
Come
see how the Learning Technologies Branch of Alberta Education uses a
collaborative process for developing print and electronic learning
resources. Development teams include writers, graphic designers,
multimedia experts, editors, desktop publishers, copyright officers and
project managers. You will learn how these teams work together, with
other Branches and Divisions, as well as with external stakeholders, to
develop distributed learning resources available across the Province.
Presenter: Hélène Fournier, Director, Distributed Learning, Learning
Technologies Branch of Alberta Education.
Hélène
is the Director, Distributed Learning, Learning Technologies Branch, of
Alberta Education. She plays a leadership role in the design and
development of distributed learning materials for K-12 students and
teachers in Alberta.
Hélène previously worked at Red River College in Winnipeg as a Program
Officer of the Distance Education Division, as well as at La Cité
collégiale in Ottawa where she held various administrative and
instructor positions in the areas of e-Learning and Distance Education.
She has also worked for a variety of Canadian and overseas institutions
as a trainer and consultant in the areas of distance and distributed
learning.
Her expertise lies in the planning, managing and coordinating of online
and distributed learning resources, while encouraging the use of
educational technology in the development and delivery of curriculum,
evaluation and assessment.
Hélène’s educational background includes a B. Comm. with specializations
in Management Information Systems and Entrepreneurial Management, from
the University of Ottawa. As an active distance learner, she has
completed courses through Athabasca University, Télé-Université and is
currently a Graduate student in the Master of Educational Technology
with the University of British Columbia.
