Alternative Delivery Methods to
Support Learners and Apprentices in the Workplace.

Description:
Collège Boréal has developed a series of alternative delivery methods to
support and supervise learners in the workplace. Different approaches
have been used for trades apprentices and learners completing a
practicum in a variety of postsecondary programs.
The presentation will offer descriptions of the strategies and the array
of tools used to meet the needs of different learner groups. The
presentation will also highlight some of the challenges and successes
for learners, teachers and employers.
This presentation will be of particular interest for teachers and
administrators involved supporting learners off campus and those
interested in developing partnerships with employers for work-study
placements, apprenticeship and trades programs.
Presenter: Raymond Guy, Senior Instructional Designer, Collège Boréal
Raymond
Guy is the senior instructional designer at Collège Boréal. He has been
involved in developing the college’s pedagogical model, providing
faculty support in the use of technology for distributed and distance
learning.
At the college, he has led instructional design initiatives for Online
welding theory, Apprenticeship programming, health sciences placement
supervision. He is also leading the design and development of the
e-portal at Collège Boréal.
On the international scene, he designed a leadership development program
for school principals working for the Lebanese Ministry of Education and
Higher Education in partnership with the University of Calgary. He has
also been involved in capacity building in Africa through the training
of trainers in trades using distributed learning, online modules and
audio conferencing. |
