Session 21
Made in Manitoba: A Partnership
Approach to Web-based Course Implementation
Session Description:
Will virtual learning displace bricks-and-mortar schools? Not in
Manitoba! Manitoba Education, Citizenship and Youth acknowledges the
importance of maintaining its traditional schools, for the educational
lives of Manitoba students and for the sustainability of many community
schools. At the same time, it understands students’ needs for flexible
scheduling and increased learning options.
In this session, Debra Parker describes how schools and school divisions
can integrate Department-developed web-based courses into existing
school programming and how this cooperative, blended-learning approach
helps meet social needs of adolescent learners, while taking advantage
of important in-school supports. The session is of special relevance to
S1 to S4 administrators and to teachers interested in on-line delivery
in Manitoba.
