Session 2
E-Portfolio--Is
It Worth the Effort?
Session Description:
Portfolios are tools for
reflective learning and can also demonstrate skills and
knowledge for PLAR in education. The versatility of use of
e-portfolios is demonstrated in their adoption as assessment
tools for student learning outcomes, course and program quality,
and faculty-student interaction. However, there are challenges
to the adoption of e-portfolios on an institutional wide basis.
From open source to proprietary products, each tool has
advantages and disadvantages. A panel--with representatives from
national and international higher education institutions--will
discuss E-portfolio experiences from a variety of perspectives.
Panel members:
- Dr. Jean Yanes - University
of Texas Pan American
- Don Present - Learning
Agents
- Deb Blower - Red River
College
- Barbara Read - University of
Winnipeg
