Workshop 2

Create Your Own Podcast

Workshop Description:

Podcasting is a web-based broadcast medium. Audio files (most commonly in MP3 format) are made available online in a way that allows software to automatically detect the availability of new files (generally via RSS), and download the files for listening at the user’s convenience.
In this workshop you will learn the basics of podcasting. The workshop includes a mixture of hands-on lab experience and presentation. Topics addressed include:

  • tools required for podcasting
  • how to plan a podcast
  • how to record a podcast
  • how to publish a podcast

Presenter: Brian McLean

Brian McLean has a B.A. and a M.A. in History (University of Manitoba). In his current position with the University of Manitoba he is the Coordinator for the web portal, JUMP, and is responsible for Web Training, as part of the university IST Training Group.
