Workshop 4
WOW
Presentations with Technology
Workshop Description:
Today we are overloaded with
many new ideas. This workshop will address the effect on
learning using PowerPoint and other technologies. In the
magician’s world we use “misdirection” to focus the audience
away from where we want them to look or focus their attention.
Is the way we use PowerPoint and other tools misdirecting us
away from learning? By focusing on yet another bullet-ladened,
“read-only” PowerPoint presentation are we “mis-directing” our
learners? Ken Bellemare a frequent presenter at MADLaT will
challenge some of your assumptions about whether some of the
technology tools actually hinder learning. This will not be a
“doom and gloom” session. Ken along with input from John Saremba
(TheInformationGuy.Com)
will share some new ideas on engaging your learners both
face-to-face and at a distance.
Ken has created a WOW Presentations Workbook which you will have
access to at the workshop to guide you to connect with your
learners. Some of the topics that will be addressed are: What
kinds of presentations do you deliver? How do you start and end
your sessions? How to use the movie industry’s storyboarding
approach to create stories in your teaching. He will help you to
engage your learners with a variety of new simple PowerPoint
slide designs.
You will not be bored! You will not be misdirected! You will
come away with ”ready to use” templates to enhance your
teaching. You’ll even learn to do a magic trick or two!
