Evaluating
Context and Planning Technology Use
Workshop Description:
This workshop will provide an overview of factors to consider in
planning for the use of technology and developing learning
materials. Three themes will be explored in this hands on
workshop:
- Determining the context of
technology use: learners, nature of content, experience of
educator, impacting factors
- Planning for use of
technology: determining type of technology based on context
and intended learning activities
- Audio and video: a specific
focus on the use of audio and video in augmented, blended, or
completely online learning
Presenters:
George Siemens, Peter Tittenberger

George Siemens is the Associate
Director – R & D, Learning Technologies Centre at University of
Manitoba. His work as a writer, blogger, keynote speaker, and
theorist has been acknowledged as visionary and
forward-thinking. He actively maintains elearnspace.org,
connectivism.ca, knowingknowledge.com, and ltc.umanitoba.ca/wordpress
blogs.
Peter Tittenberger is Director
of the University of Manitoba's Learning Technologies Centre and
has led the centre from its inception in 2005. Previously, Peter
worked at the University of Manitoba in University Teaching
Services and Information Services and Technology. Before coming
to the U of M, Peter worked in the Media Department at the
University of Winnipeg for 20 years. A graduate of the
University of Manitoba, he holds a Post Graduate Certificate in
Distributed Learning from the University of British Columbia.
