Title: Engaging High School Students in an Online Course

Session Description:

Find out the ways you can engage high school students in an online course. The Blackboard/WebCT interface will be used to demonstrate some of the strategies used to promote engagement, learning and success.

Presenter: Donald Girouard

Donald is currently a consultant for the Distance Learning Unit for Manitoba Education, Citizenship & Youth, working specifically with high school web-based course implementation for the province. His past experiences include being a teacher, guidance counsellor, principal, as well as distance education and technology coordinator. He also has experience writing and delivering web-based courses. Along with providing support to teachers, Donald also provides workshops for teachers using the Blackboard/WebCT interface and helps teachers integrate pedagogical and best practices into their online courses.
