Title: Collaborative Tools
to Enhance Professional Learning Networks
Workshop
Description:
Professional
Learning Networks (PLN) are ways in which individuals can work
collaboratively to develop their pedagogical skills with the end
goal of improving student learning. Many PLNs include an online
component as means to stay in touch, share resources and learn
from one another at a distance. Freely available web
applications such as wikis, blogs, and social networking tools
(ex. Diigo, Ning, and Twitter) are just a few of the tools that
are being used with great success.
Presenter: John Evans
John Evans is currently the Professional Learning Consultant
with Manitoba Education Citizenship and Youth. He has been an
educator in Manitoba for over 28 years serving in the capacities
of classroom teacher, technology leader and principal. John is
passionate about the infusion of technology in all areas of the
curricula. He believes that the combination of good pedagogy
with current technologies can create an empowering learning
environment for both the student and teacher.
