Workshop 9

Title: Online Learning for Professional Certification: From Conception to Implementation

Workshop Description:

In this workshop participants will be hands-on in their exploration of some of the uses of Blackboard through navigating a Professional Learning Experience currently offered to the field by MECY.

When completed by professionals in the field the PLE is recognized as 20 contact hours of professional development towards Special Education Teacher Certification. The PLE utilizes discussion areas, links to online information, connection to their current planning and more to present a collaborative learning opportunity for professionals that strengthen their skills in programming for students with exceptional needs.

Workshop participants can explore, ask questions, and provide feedback on this PLE for educators.

Presenter: Brent Epp

Brent Epp is a Consultant for Student Services from MECY’s Student Services Unit. As a consultant he has delivered workshops for teachers on many topics related to Student Services. Brent has only a limited background with ICT but has recently added online learning to the ways his unit offers support to the field. He is interested in ways online professional learning can be accessible, engaging and relevant to teachers so that student learning is improved.
