Title: Simulations within
the Health Care Domain
Session
Description:
This session will explore the
growing use of simulation as an examination tool and whether the
use of sim is a more effective means to evaluate. Dr. Brown will
discuss the integration of simulation into all of the
educational programs within the Faculty of Medicine and the
advancements within the Clinical Learning and Simulation
Facility at the University of Manitoba.
Presenter: Dr. Rob Brown, Mindemar Professorship in Human
Simulation, Clinical Learning and Simulation Facility, Faculty
of Medicine, University of Manitoba.
Dr. Brown earned his Medical Degree at the University of
Manitoba where he also completed his residency in
anesthesiology. He later went on to complete his fellowship
training in Pain Management at the Ottawa General Hospital. Dr.
Brown’s interest in Medicine has been education at all levels.
He was appointed chair of the Association of Canadian University
Departments of Anesthesia where he was responsible for
coordinating the collaboration on a national Curriculum for
Anesthesia and the incorporation of portfolios into Royal
College Anesthesiology education. Dr. Brown was later appointed
the Mindemar Professorship in Human Simulation due to his work
in the applicability of simulation across disciplines and
throughout the entire educational spectrum. He is recognized for
growing the Clinical Learning and Simulation Facility into a
leader in educational research.
