Workshop 12
Title: Technology Tools and
Tasks for Learning
Workshop
Description:
Learning occurs when we teach
others. Why not put our students in charge of teaching concepts
to their peers? We describe this process as authoring, teaching,
or discussing to learn.
You can create a classroom environment in which students explain
concepts or demonstrate skill applications using multimedia
tools and web 2.0 applications. Peer tutoring offers
opportunities for feedback and revision. Instructor evaluation
of final products or demonstrations allows for an assessment of
knowledge and skill.
Our workshop will involve sharing examples from our experiences
and provide opportunities for familiarization with the tools
used in these example projects. We’ll be using a computer lab so
that when the tools involved or similar tools are available
online, we will explore these tools together.
Presenters: Dr. Mark Grabe and Cindy Grabe
Mark Grabe is Professor and
Chairperson of Psychology at the University of North Dakota. Dr.
Grabe also helped develop and teaches in the Instructional
Design and Technology graduate program at the University.

Forks School District in 1991. Since that time her activities
have morphed considerably and she began splitting her time
