Session 3
Title: Re-thinking Schools
and Educating Students. Can online learning help?
Session Description:
Prairie Spirit School Division
is a large division geographically but with a sparse population.
Across their large area, Prairie Spirit SD has nine very small
high schools. Division and school staff have been going through
a process of re-thinking how education can be delivered to
students in these small high schools. Craig will share the
issues and outline the inquiry process they have been following
in redefining what school means in these small rural
communities.
Presenter: Craig Cuddy
Craig Cuddy has been an
educator in the K to 12 arena for over 35 years. As an
educational leader, Craig serves as Technology Coordinator &
Learning with ICT Leader in Prairie Spirit School Division. In
this role, Craig has been both facilitator and supporter of
distance learning in Prairie Spirit School Division which
utilizes both Interactive Instructional Television (IITV) and
Web-Based Course (WBC) delivery models. Craig also serves on the
Literacy with ICT Advisory Committee to Manitoba Education and
is an active member of the Manitoba Association of Education
Technology Leaders (MATEL). Craig challenges others to "think
outside the box" when it comes to supporting student learning
and engagement in that learning.
