Richard Van Eck
Richard Van Eck is a professor of Instructional Design & Technology at the University of North Dakota. His research on serious games over the last two decades has been driven in equal parts by his belief in their power as a positive learning tool and his fear that some proponents are overselling their potential. He is a consistent advocate for the rigorous study of digital games, with an emphasis on theory-driven, empirical studies of how, why, where, when, and for whom games can have positive or negative effects. He has given more than 75 national and international presentations on serious games, including talks at TEDx Manitoba and South by Southwest (SXSW). Click for the rest of Richard Van Eck's Biography
