and Practices for Using Instructional Media in eLearning.
Workshop Description:
Learn practical guidelines and methods for integrating purposeful
instructional video and other visuals into your elearning. This workshop
combines both the theory and the practices you need to select and
develop meaningful and cost effective instructional media.
Topics covered in this workshop include:

Methods for matching instructional media with learning outcomes and
objectives

Development process for producing custom instructional digital video
and graphics

Quality standards for effective instructional media
This workshop an excellent companion to the afternoon workshop “Me and
IT???” How instructors and subject matter experts can create
well-designed e-learning content “ which will walk participants through
how to create well-designed e-learning content when e-learning
development team expertise is not available. In combination (or
separately!), the two workshops will give the learner practical skills
for selecting and creating good quality e-learning materials.

D. Jo-Anne Spencer, Instructor, Red River College and eLearning Project
Coordinator, Technologies for Learning Group
Jo-Anne
is currently employed as a project coordinator with Technologies for
Learning Group (TLG), an elearning company specializing in custom online
content and learning management systems for corporate and government
clients. To TLG, Jo-Anne brings a valuable and comprehensive background
in: education, multimedia production, web design and professional
photography. As project coordinator, Jo-Anne is responsible for ensuring
TLG's custom eLearning projects are done on time, on budget and to a
high standard of quality. Prior to TLG, Jo-Anne was a supervisor and
multimedia technician in the Biomedical Communications department at the
Health Sciences Centre.
Although an integral part of the TLG team, Jo-Anne continues her work as
an instructor in the Continuing Education Department at Red River
College. Jo-Anne is currently teaching a new course she has designed,
Digital Media for the Web. Jo-Anne is also a seasoned Photoshop
instructor.
Roberta Everson, Director Learning Strategies, Technologies for
Learning Group (TLG)
Roberta
directs Technologies for Learning Groups (TLG) learning development and
is responsible for ensuring instructional integrity in all TLG
paper-based and online learning products. As Director of Learning
Strategies, Roberta has been instrumental in building and implementing
TLG's instructional design and content development process, including a
multimedia decision matrix.
An experienced educator, Roberta has participated in the envisioning and
building of many client-learning systems in industries such as retail,
customer contact, manufacturing and aerospace. During her twelve years
in the education field, she has worked in diverse environments ranging
from workplace-based training programs to secondary schools, in addition
to designing and developing paper based and online training with TLG.
She received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba
and has considerable experience designing offline and online learning
material and delivering classroom based training. Roberta has recently
enrolled in a Master of Science, Instructional Design and Technology at
UND.
